About the Author

Jennifer is the loving Mom to June Flowers & bonus Mom to Georgia & Lilly D’Spain, and proud wife to Firefighter & EMT Dispatcher Travis D’Spain. Jennifer is originally from Miami, FL. She began her travels at an early age of 20. Resided in Northern California, Austin, TX & now lives a peacefully life in the Hill Country in Bandera, TX working as a professional marketing team Photographer for a Western Jewelry family operated business, Hyo Silver.
 

Jennifer has a diverse background as a seasoned vocalist, commercial actor, tv host. She held the reigning titles for Miss. Homestead & Ms.Texas United America, advocating awareness in her community through experience from Mentorship through her platform "Mentors are the Makers of our Future." She was also a top 32 finalist on American Idol Season 2! Jennifer is the first female in the history of Ringling to be the Songstress & Storyteller for the 134th & 136th Cirucs of Dreams tour for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. “The Greatest Show on Earth!” Along with her extensive touring experience, Jennifer has had the opportunity to play venues such as Madison Square Garden, Austin City Limits, and she has even had the opportunity to perform the National Anthem on The White House Lawn!

Jenn’s got a load of creative talent experience, she has a passion for helping others & it truly shines through her work in the community as an entrepreneur. Jennifer was also inspired to direct a community scholarship pageant, The Miss Bandera County Pageant raising over $2500 in scholarships for young ladies of Bandera County.

Through Jennifer's lived experience of challenges and fears she knew her stories would inspire others to dream big too! Through the lens of childhood experiences, the book "Not My Circus" navigates various everyday situations—from grocery store adventures to school pop quizzes and family gatherings—reflecting on the joy, uncertainty, and laughter that accompany each moment.

With a touch of humor and heart, the story captures the essence of feeling out of place while emphasizing themes of belonging, resilience, and self-discovery. Each beautifully illustrated page by the award winning Jennifer invites readers to see the beauty in their own “circuses,” encouraging them to celebrate their unique experiences, embrace family connections, and build confidence along the way. Award winning Nina Broen knew exactly how to bring this story to life and capture the style and influenced by the books from Shel Silverstein that Jennifer used to read from her childhood!

In a world filled with both challenges and wonders, “Not My Circus” reminds us that true belonging is found in laughter, love, and the acceptance of oneself and others. It helped her find joy in the little things that humbled her heart.
